Since 1775, the Marine Corps has defended freedom and democracy – a duty they have fulfilled with honor, courage and commitment. As they have fulfilled their duty, Marines have earned a well-deserved reputation for toughness.
But there is another side to the Marine Corps – the side that springs from a genuine concern for the communities in which they live – and a deep compassion for the under-privileged children of America. That’s the side that exemplifies the spirit of the Marine Corps. That side is found in the Lake Blue Ridge Detachment of the Marine Corps League and its Toys for Tots program to benefit children in Fannin County.
Led by Marine Jim Brumbelow, the Toys for Tots campaign for Fannin County will conduct two toy donation events this weekend (Thanksgiving weekend).
The Marines will accept toy donations at a Stuff-the-Truck event at Walmart this Friday from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. Marines in uniform will be available to accept donations to benefit local children in Fannin County.
The Marines will also conduct a Blue Friday fundraiser at Grumpy Old Men Brewing on East Main Street from 1:00pm until 5:00pm.
An unwrapped toy of any type will be appreciated.
