Above: Caroline Carder and Baylor Twiggs Caroline Carder from Sisson Dupont & Carder came to Mrs. Danner’s fourth grade math classes at West Fannin Elementary to discuss their ideas for an ongoing STEM project. Fourth grade teachers presented them with the idea that there was not enough shade on the playground and asked them how the problem could best be solved.  Teachers and students then began brainstorming and came up with a gazebo/outdoor classroom to enhance student learning at West Fannin while providing shade. He asked the students for ideas on how to construct a boat ramp into the river using concrete, but the concrete was not allowed to escape into the river. Board of Education starts search for new Superintendent

By Marci Watson, Staff Writer: At an 8 a.m. called meeting at the Board of Education on Thursday, Dec. 15, the decision was made by BOE members to accept Letters of Intent from via a system-wide email interested in the Fannin County School System Superintendent position. The BOE had four options to choose from in their search to find a replacement for School Superintendent Mark Henson. Smokey Bear visits EFES

The US Forestry service gave a presentation to the student body at East Fannin Elementary School on Dec. 9. Smokey Bear came along with the Forest Rangers and handed out hugs to all the kids. The students learned how dangerous fires can be when they are uncontrolled. Forest Service personnel taught the children tips on personal safety and talked about the recent wildfires in our region.
