Speaker Ralston Reprimanded, Admits to Wrongdoing

On Thursday December 8th the Georgia Supreme Court decided that House Speaker David Ralston would receive a panel reprimand by the state bar.

The reprimand comes as a result of Ralston being investigated for violating rules as an attorney.

In 2014 a request for investigation complaint was filed with the state bar by a former client of Ralstons. The complaint alleged that Ralston advanced a client nearly $22000 illegally. Ultimately Ralston admitted to violating state bar rules when he advanced the money but claimed he was only trying to help his clients pay their bills at the time.

While a reprimand by the state bar is public it is considered less severe than a true public reprimand.
